Ghana FA Scouts UK-Based Talents as 40 Ghanaian-Descent Players Attend Historic Identification Programme

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has taken a major step toward securing the future of its national teams after successfully organising its inaugural talent identification programme in the United Kingdom.

A total of 40 players of Ghanaian descent, born in the UK and currently playing in Category One academies, participated in the groundbreaking exercise aimed at discovering and engaging elite young talents for Ghana’s national team setup.

The initiative was organised by the GFA in partnership with Coach Hene Sports Club, the Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom, and Prince Lamona Consult.

Players between the U15 and U20 age categories from some of England’s biggest academies, including Chelsea, Everton, Manchester City, and Arsenal, were assessed during the programme held in Bromley.

The scouting exercise was supervised by Ghana FA Technical Director Professor Joseph Mintah and FIFA Talent Coach Stuart McLaren, alongside coaches from Coach Hene Sporting Club, who closely monitored several standout performers throughout the session.

The programme forms part of the Ghana FA’s long-term strategy to strengthen the Black Stars and youth national teams by connecting with talented players in the diaspora.

Following the success of the first edition, the Ghana FA is expected to expand the initiative to include players from Category Two and Three academies, as well as grassroots football structures across the UK and other countries in the coming months.

The move highlights Ghana’s growing commitment to tapping into the vast pool of football talent among players of Ghanaian heritage abroad as the federation continues building for the future.
