Done Deal: Tom Dele-Bashiru Set for €2 Million Move to Aris Thessaloniki
Nigeria-eligible midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru is set to begin a new chapter in his career after Aris Thessaloniki reached an agreement with Watford over a transfer worth up to €2 million, NaijaSports report.
The 25-year-old is expected to travel to Thessaloniki this week to complete the formalities before signing a three-year contract with the Greek Super League side.
The move brings an end to Dele-Bashiru’s time at Watford, where he spent several seasons after joining from Manchester City’s academy. During his career, the midfielder also gained valuable experience on loan at Reading and Turkish club Gençlerbirliği, developing into a composed and energetic presence in midfield.
A switch to Aris offers Dele-Bashiru the opportunity for regular first-team football and a fresh platform to showcase his abilities in one of Europe’s emerging leagues.
On the international stage, Dele-Bashiru represented Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup after featuring for the Flying Eagles. However, he is yet to earn a senior call-up to the Super Eagles.
The midfielder will be hoping that consistent performances in Greece can finally open the door to Nigeria’s senior national team, following in the footsteps of his younger brother, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who has established himself as a regular member of the Super Eagles squad.
