Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola was full of praise for Nigeria duo Kelechi Iheanacho and Ademola Lookman following their impressive display in Leicester 6-3 defeat in the English Premier League game on Sunday.
It was an entertaining game at the Etihad Stadium with Iheanacho grabbing a goal and two assists while Ademola was also on the score sheet.
The league leaders started the game in fine form and goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan just 20 minutes into the game saw them cruising comfortably.
Raheem Sterling added the fourth via a penalty in the 25th minute to make it four-nil just before halftime.
The Foxes however came back stronger in the second-half comeback, scoring three goals before Aymeric Laporte and Raheem Sterling made the scoreline more comfortable in the closing minutes.
Iheanacho set up James Maddison in the 55th minute and the Nigeria international got his second assist of the game when he slid the ball through for Lookman before firing the ball home in the 65th minute to make it 4-3.
Speaking after the game, Guardiola praised the Foxes players as he singled out the Nigerian duo.
“The game was open at 4-0. They have big quality in transition and then they changed shape,” Guardiola was quoted as saying by I by LeicestershireLive.
“Vestergaard is an excellent player, and when Tielemans and Maddison can play, they have lots of quality, with Kelechi and Lookman too.
“They have an incredible manager; it was very clever to change the system.”
