Nigeria female basketball team produced a masterclass performance in their quarter final loss to USA. The game which was expected to be an easy stroll for the USA team saw D’Tigress put up a fight worthy of a true champion to lose the match by 74-88 points.
As expected,point guard Ezinne Kalu and Amy Okonkwo played the game of their lives as the team showed a true representation of the Nigerian fighting spirit.
Through the first quarter,Nigeria were formidable in defense to keep the USA breaking away and keep the game tightly contested. And while the game progressed the USA used their skills and depth to move ahead more and more.
Just when it seems like the USA were getting away with an easy win,D’Tigress produced a stellar performance to end the game on a high note and exit the competition as USA basketball superstar Le Bron James watches on from the stands along with his wife,Savannah james and fellow American team mate,Bam Adebayo.
And Coach Rena Wakama had this to say after the match;
“The future is bright but we have to invest in us, we have to give these girls other resources and support for them to be able to get to the podium. We’re capable of it, we have the talent,”
