Attention has now been shifted to Tobi Amusan as the trio of Ese Brume,Ruth Usoro and Prestina Oluchi Ochonogor failed to get a podium finish in the Olympics women’s long jump final yesterday.

Brume who came fifth failed to get a medal for the second consecutive time after she was previously beaten to bronze by Romania’s Alina Kotaru-Kotmann at the 2023 World Athletics Championship.

The duo of Ruth Usoro and Prestina Oluchi Ochonogor also failed to get medals after finishing 10th and 12th respectively.

All eyes will now be on Tobi Amusan,the world record holder in the 100m hurdles to carry the Nation’s flag and advance to the final when she competes against other athletes in the semi-final today at 11:05 am.

Meanwhile, Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) technical director Samuel Onikeku says their is still hope for medals for Team Nigeria. In his words yesterday, Onikeku said;

“Things may not be looking good as of now,but we are still hopeful of getting a medal here in Paris”.
