The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the official unveiling of Mr. Éric Sékou Chelle as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles. The event will take place on Monday, at 11:00 AM, in the Media Conference Room of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
Speaking on the appointment, NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau, acknowledged the diverse reactions from Nigerians but called for unity and support for the new coach.
“We understand that Nigerians are deeply passionate about football, which has led to varied opinions on Coach Chelle’s appointment,” Gusau stated. “However, we urge everyone to rally behind him. We are confident in his ability to achieve great results with the Super Eagles, and the NFF will provide him with all the necessary support to succeed.”
During Monday’s ceremony, the NFF will also announce the names of Chelle’s assistants. The coaching team will oversee the Super Eagles B team at the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) in East Africa before turning their focus to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The qualifiers begin in March, with Nigeria set to face Rwanda away and Zimbabwe at home in their opening fixtures.
