Ronaldo Defies Injury as Portugal Lift Nations League Title

Portugal emerged victorious in the 2025 UEFA Nations League final, claiming yet another piece of silverware and at the heart of it all was Cristiano Ronaldo, who battled through injury to help secure the win.
Despite feeling discomfort during the pre-match warm-up, the 40-year-old captain refused to sit out the final. His determination to represent his country, even at personal risk, underscored the passion that has defined his remarkable career.
"I felt the injury since the warm-up," Ronaldo revealed after the match. "It’s been bothering me for a while. But for Portugal, if I had to break my leg, I would do it."
Reflecting on his career, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner acknowledged that time is no longer on his side. “You know how old I am already,” he said. “Obviously I’m closer to the end than the beginning, but I have to enjoy every moment.”
Still, retirement is not yet on the horizon for the Portuguese icon. “As long as I don’t suffer a serious injury, I’ll keep going,” he said with determination.
