As World Cup Fades from View-AFCON Shines Brighter for Nigeria

At this point, only a miracle can help Nigeria qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Super Eagles have dropped too many important points, and things are not looking good.
Many fans blame former coach José Peseiro and current coach Finidi George for the poor results. Their tactics and decisions haven’t worked, and it’s costing Nigeria big time.
While Éric Chelle, has also come under scrutiny, especially after the draw in Uyo, it would be unfair to place the bulk of the blame on him. Chelle inherited a difficult situation, and the problems predate his appointment.
With World Cup hopes dimming, it is perhaps time for Nigeria to shift focus to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. That’s our next big chance to bounce back and make the country proud.
