Rivers United has announced the appointment of Finidi George as their new head coach. The former Super Eagles manager and Nigerian football legend takes over the reins at the club, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the game.

As a player, he enjoyed a successful career, most notably with Ajax Amsterdam, where he was part of the team that won the UEFA Champions League in 1995. His international career with the Nigerian national team saw him earn numerous caps and play pivotal roles in several tournaments, including the 1994 World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations. Rivers United’s decision to bring him on board reflects their ambition to build on their recent successes and aim for higher achievements in both domestic and continental competitions.

In a statement, Finidi expressed his excitement about the new role. “I am honored to take on this responsibility and lead Rivers United,” he said. “The club has a strong foundation and great potential, and I am looking forward to working with the players and the management to achieve our goals.”
