Former Super Eagles and one of the most decorated coaches in Nigeria Samson Siasia ‘s 5 Years FIFA Ban has expired.
Samson Siasia who was initially banned for life from all football related issues had his sentence reduced to 5 years following His Appeal to CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sports) and having his $50,000 fine quash after pleading not guilty to the allegations of match fixing levied against him for his involvement in a scandal while serving as the head coach of a team in Australia.
The Olympics Silver and Bronze medals Winning coach was said to have been involved in a fixing scandal in 2010,when a match-fixer attempted to involve him as a club coach by offering employment benefits in exchange for fielding specific players.
Siasia who held a U.S. Soccer Federation coaching license has been cleared to return to active footballing activities today,two days after his 57th birthday.
However,it may not be long before he secures a job as several clubs in Nigeria’s domestic leagues, including the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and Nigeria National League (NNL), are reportedly interested in securing his services.
