The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as announced the appointment of former Germany international,Bruno Labbadia as the new head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

In statement released by the Secretary General of the NFF, Mohammed Sanusi on Tuesday morning,he said;

“The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles. The appointment is with immediate effect,”.

Labbadia who had a brief stint with the Germany National team during his playing days has had a high profile coaching career managing Hertha Berlin and VfB Stuttgart most recently and previously coached, VfL Wolfsburg, Hamburger SV, Bayer Leverkusen, among others, and holds a UEFA Pro License.

He will be the sixth German to coach the Super Eagles after Karl-Heinz Marotzke (who had two stints between 1970 and 1974), Gottlieb Göller (1981), Manfred Höner (1988-1989), Berti Vogts (2007-2008) and most recently Gernot Rohr (2016-2021).

He will be facing an uphill task to help Nigeria qualify for the 2025 nations cup when the qualifier begins next month and runs through November.
