Nigeria Protests Visa Denial for 2025 World Youth Table Tennis Championships
Nigeria has filed a formal petition with the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) after its players were denied visas to compete at the 2025 World Youth Championships in Romania.
In a statement signed by Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) President, Adesoji Tayo, the federation condemned the decision, describing it as a violation of the principles of fairness, inclusivity, and global sportsmanship that international sporting bodies are expected to uphold.
Tayo argued that the reasons given for the visa refusal were discriminatory and unjust, stressing that the action undermines the spirit of unity that international sports are meant to promote. He called on the ITTF and its partners to address the issue to ensure equal opportunity and fair participation for all athletes, regardless of nationality.
The NTTF maintains that Nigeria, as an active participant in global table tennis, deserves equitable treatment and full access to international competitions.
