Hat-Trick in the Champions League-A Night to Remember for Victor Osimhen
In a commanding display on 5 November 2025, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen made history in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) group stage by scoring a decisive hat-trick for his club Galatasaray S.K. in a 3-0 away win at AFC Ajax.
This achievement not only underlined Osimhen’s rising stature in European football, but also delivered a massive boost for Galatasaray’s campaign and their ambition in Europe’s elite club competition.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 59th minute with a header off a cross from teammate Leroy Sané.
He converted a penalty in the 66th minute after Ajax defender Youri Baas handled the ball in the box.
He completed his treble via a second penalty in the 78th minute after a separate hand-ball in the area.
The win marked Galatasaray’s first ever victory away at Ajax in the Champions League.
With this hat-trick, Osimhen moved to six goals in the UCL this season and temporarily leap-frogged elite forwards such as Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland to lead the competition’s scoring chart.
